Who Do You Say That I Am: What I Learned This Lent

I decided I wanted to do a devotional for 40 days this Lent. I told my mom about it and she wanted to do it with me. Eventually both of my grandmothers, my three sisters, and my aunt and cousin joined me. We met weekly on Sunday evenings on Zoom where we adjusted unmuting our microphones for the first few minutes then I led us through talking through the readings from the week and how we felt the Lord speaking to each of us. It was a special way to connect more in depth with the Father and one another.
We read "Who Do You Say That I Am?" by Debra Herbeck. It contained daily readings and reflections that were striking and truly made me use my "holy imagination," as the author put it, and think a lot.

The book balanced me realizing that I am a just a foolish sheep that Jesus will find over and over again and that I am a daughter of a King meant for The Kingdom. It was finding humility in my humanity and joy in my inheritance as a child of God.
In addition to learning who God says that I am, I learned more about WHO HE IS. Each week of Lent, the devotional focused on one of these sacred declarations:
I am the Light of the World
I am the Gate for the Sheep
I am the Good Shepherd
I am the True Vine
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life
I am the Bread of Life
As Holy Week gave way to Easter, we were drawn into the ultimate proclamation: I am the Resurrection and the Life.
So happy Easter. What a blessing it is that not only did Jesus die for us, He lives for us. He thought of you while on that cross. You are worth dying for, but the Lord shows that you are also worth living for. Let us not take that lightly and fully live for Him each and every moment.
All my love,
Neva
