Things I am Loving Lately

Let’s be real — life’s been a mix of chaos and calm lately. Some days feel like I’m killing it, and others feel like I’m barely holding it together. But even in the mess, there’s been a handful of things keeping me grounded, making me laugh, or just giving me a reason to pause and say, “Okay, this is good.”

Here’s what’s been keeping my head up and my heart soft lately — no fluff, just the good stuff.

1. Music by Cam

   Specifically, the song "Classic." Not only is her voice beautiful, her music explores a lot of emotion and is so relatable. This song can pick me up out of any mood!

2. Lunch time walks

   The sunshine and I are besties, so my 30 minutes of walking around outside for my lunch break is a highlight of my work day. I bring some comfy workout clothes and shoes with me every morning!

   

3. Psalms 34:17-19

   "When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD rescues them from them all."

   I stumbled upon this one on a particularly stressful day. I feel like this one calms me of everything. Jesus has my back!

4. RayBans

   I recently found my RayBans sunglasses and let me tell you, I missed them! What a treat for the sunshine and what a treat for comfy sunnies!

   

5. My gratitude journal

   Only 90 seconds of my day is worth it when it helps me be grateful, get some perspective, and take some deep breaths. I use a phone app so I can do it whenever!

6. Learning to play the guitar

   Yep, I am trying to learn the guitar and its going slow. But I am so proud of myself for finally doing something I have wanted to be able to do my whole life! Only if I could sing haha!

7. The salad bar at Whole Foods

   It's just delicious, close to work, and always makes me feel fueled afterward!

8. Laying in the sun

   Huh, the sun seems like a common theme here. I have taken to laying out on the beach of the lake by the house I am living in right now with my cousins. Life gets simple, I get tan, and my cousins get to know me. It's so lovely.

   

9. Eyeliner

   I've never been an eyeliner girl. Probably because I couldn't do it. I have figured out to and I love it with a bold makeup look. I'm very into brown eyeliner at the moment!

10. Pinterest

    Yah, I am back to scrolling it!

11. Making plans to attend concerts

    I am truly a live music lover. Living in Wichita provides even more opportunity to see some of my favorite artists and discover some new ones. Bring on the cute concert outfits!!

13. Reconnecting with old friends

    From meeting each other for a night out to a full on rowing team class reunion at a couple of weddings, seeing my people fills my soul! Might I suggest reaching out to that friend you haven't talked to in a while... they'd probably love to hear from/see you too!

    

    

    

14. This quote I saw:

    "'I tried to love them, even when they didn't love me back.' And Jesus sits at the edge of her bed saying 'and in that moment, you looked more like me than you'll ever know.'"

It just reminds me that I do the best I can, with what I know, to love like Jesus. It can hurt really bad. But aren't we called to love as the Lord does?

None of these things are life-changing, but together they’re shaping this season in small and beautiful ways. Sometimes, it’s the littlest things that help us feel the most alive.
